Valedictorian – Annabelle Marie Besonen
Watersmeet High School Valedictorian for the 2022-2023 school year is Annabelle Marie Besonen. Annabelle earned a grade point average of 4.0 during her four years of high school. She participated in Cross Country, Track, Quiz Bowl, Basketball, Robotics, Volleyball, Cheerleading, and National Honor Society. Annabelle has been recruited to play basketball this fall at Gogebic Community College. She is receiving an athletic scholarship and after two years plans to transfer to Northern Michigan University to earn a degree in Elementary Education. Annabelle is the daughter of Mariann and Brent Besonen.
Salutatorian – Brock Alan Michael Shively
Watersmeet High School Salutatorian for the 2022-2023 school year is Brock Alan Michael Shively. Brock earned a grade point average of 3.994 during his four years of high school. Brock participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, National Beta Club, Jobs for American Graduates, Quiz Bowl, Robotics, Chess Club and the Golf Team. Outside of school, Brock participates in the Lac Vieux Desert Youth Council, serving as the Chairperson. He also serves on the FEMA Region 5 Youth Preparedness Council as the only representative from the Upper Peninsula. Brock will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall to pursue a degree in Public Policy. Brock is the son of Alina and Alan Shively.
