Watersmeet Township is closely monitoring the blizzard forecasted by the US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan. Updated localized projections, as of 3:07 a.m., 12/28/25, indicate that the Watersmeet area may receive between 14 inches and 25 inches of total snowfall, with winds as high as 45 mph. This storm has the potential to be high-impact and power outages are likely.

Freezing drizzle is expected to transition to heavy snow on Sunday evening. Strong winds on Sunday into Monday may produce significant blowing and drifting snow, rapidly reducing visibility. The combination of heavy snow and gusty winds may also result in localized power outages.

If these conditions develop as forecast, travel may become dangerous or impossible, especially Sunday night into Monday morning.

We strongly encourage the community to take steps now:

✅ Plan ahead for travel
✅ Charge devices and prepare for possible power outages
✅ Keep emergency supplies in your home and vehicle
✅ Avoid any unnecessary travel
✅ Stay tuned for updates from US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan

Your safety is our priority. Please take this storm seriously and prepare accordingly.

Stay safe, Watersmeet Township and Police & Fire Departments ❄️
